There are so many things we don’t understand. I have to confess that I still find God’s ways confusing at times. But here’s what I do understand: God may not explain himself, but he always gives himself.

There is personal comfort in Christmas. It’s good, but it ought not to end with us. The comfort of Christ is meant to move through his comforted people to a hurting world.

Our wasting away is indisputable; these earthly tents will perish. But our hope is not in this life but the next, not this body but our glorified one.

There is ultimately hope knowing that one day, because of Christ, the reality of death and its sting here on earth will be gone. This battle we face with our children, while very urgent, is momentary in light of Christ’s victory.

Make space to grieve, but watch for the ways Jesus faithfully shows up in those deep moments of grief.

Grieving as one who has hope is different because even if we are slayed in the moment by the painful hand of the Sovereign, we know that one day, it will all be well.

God used the good gift of my fifth baby to bless me and reveal more about him and me. He humbled me and lifted me up.

We’ve all experienced small-scale deaths, disappointments, and disorientation. Yet, no matter what comes, we can ask God to grow us in this privilege of praying in the Holy Spirit.
